Who is Lexi Capital?
Since being founded in 2010 by two UCLA alum, Lexi Capital has creatively applied client-first practices to its fast-growing precious metals firm. After studying the recurring destruction caused by the housing and credit markets, as well as unscrupulous bankers and corporate-backed political leaders, the two entrepreneurs searched for a way to bring simplicity and transparency to the physical precious metals market.
For their final class project, the two graduates created a business plan for a precious metals firm that allowed retail buyers to purchase physical gold and silver with the same type of assurances and protections previously reserved for the large investment houses and hedge funds on Wall Street. After a 1st place finish, followed by a round of startup funding from family and friends, Lexi Capital and the Gold Assurance Plan were launched.
What I Learned From Lexi Capital?
The agent at Lexi Capital had been in the precious metals IRA business for 9 years, then helped start the company 2 years ago. He was very methodical on his approach in explaining the IRA rollover process, and transparent about fees for storage, account maintenance, set-up, wire transfer and a purchase fee of $25 per transaction. Lexi also covers the first year fees for new account holders.
The agent asked about my retirement goals and my purpose for choosing to add precious metals to my IRA. He was especially concerned about the debt crisis, as well as how the market and the vulnerability of the dollar is being affected.
Their first recommendation was to immediately liquidate my current IRA to either cash or CD’s so that the account value is not tied to the stock market. This money can then be held for 60 days without incurring any penalties or taxes before transferring to another custodian.
After an account is opened with Lexi Capital, they will contact SDIRA and arrange funding the new IRA with my choice of precious metals. The agent advised purchasing US Mint proof coins, as these are certified and minted in limited quantities so they hold value better than bullion and other forms of precious metals.
He also emphasized Lexi Capital’s insurance policy, which guarantees your account will not lose value in the first year. In the event that the price of your assets drops during this time, Lexi will make up the difference either in a personal check to you, or convert the value lost into precious metals and add it to your account.
After the first year, your account is no longer insured against loss due to market changes, but it is insured with Lloyds of London. Lexi Capital promotes diversity in an IRA precious metals portfolio, and suggested investing 45% in precious metals as a good balance to hold with other assets.

Conclusion – Final Thoughts
What I find impressive about Lexi Capital is the high rating it has received both from BBB and BCA. These are reputable agencies that provide ratings to businesses based on how they operate and deal with their customers.
Although the ratings given to the company were notable, there is a lack of customer reviews posted on TrustLink. When doing your research it’s important to evaluate a company’s performance by reading about the experiences of past clients. Sadly, this is not the case since Lexi Capital lacks credentials and a solid reputation compared to its competitors.

| Bottom Line: Lexi Capital offers many of the same features as the more established companies. However, it lacks history and industry associations, which gives it a lower ranking. | |
